Sydney radio ratings: Changing of the guard as Kyle & Jackie O overtake Ben Fordham

Kyle and Jackie O have become the #1 breakfast show in Sydney for the first time, with the Australian Radio Network (ARN) show breaking their own record share, set last survey, to hit a monumental 15.5% share (+2.6 percentage points).

The KIIS 106.5 breakfast show went ahead of Ben Fordham on Nine’s 2GB, ending the latter’s 17-year run at #1, and despite the Fordham arresting his falling momentum with just a 0.2 point drop to keep a respectively 13.3% share of listening.

ARN CEO Ciaran Davis said: “Kyle & Jackie O are the best in the world at what they do and seeing them secure the overall #1 breakfast title in Sydney is testament to that and fully deserved.

“They understand their audience and this result is a reflection of their dedication to keeping the content fresh and delivering it in their own unique way. It’s a show that never fails to surprise and ARN applauds Kyle, Jackie and our entire team behind the scenes on this historical moment for Sydney radio.”

The next-best rating breakfast show in the harbour city was Robbie and Wendy on ABC Sydney, who lost 1.2 points to land on an 11.9% share. No other show is close to double digits.

2DayFM’s Hughesy, Ed and Erin were flat with a 3.3% share of listening, while Nova 96.9’s Fitzy and Wippa dipped slightly to a 6.4% share (-0.3 points).

Moonman In The Morning had the second-biggest fall among all breakfast shows, losing 1.1 points to hit a 4.6% share.

Nine Radio will be pleased that 2GB managed to hold on to the #1 position among all stations in Sydney, with an 11.8% share (+0.1 point).

In the overall stakes, KIIS 106.5 was in second, rising with a one point jump to a 10.6% share, ahead of Nova’s Smoothfm which fell 0.8 points to a flat 10% share.

ABC Sydney was the next best overall, coming in fourth spot with a 9.6% share (down 0.5 points), ahead of WSFM with a slight 0.1 point rise to 8.3%.
