Sydney’s Travelling Film Festival reaches regional Queensland

Screen Queensland has commissioned more dates for The Travelling Film Festival to regional Queensland.

Australia’s longest running regional film festival, and the Sydney Film Festival in a suitcase, The Travelling Film Festival gives regional Queenslanders a chance to view SIFF’s best work.

With an additional grant totalling $25,000 from the Screen Culture Funding Programme, the October/November 2011 tour will extend to Toowoomba and Charters Towers.

Queensland dates are as follows:

Mackay: 7-9 October, Mackay City Cinema
Bundaberg: 14–16 October, Bowraville Theatre
Toowoomba: 21–23 October, Toowoomba Strand
Charters Towers: 28–30 October, Torrs Drive Inn
Cairns: 11–15 November, Cairns City Cinema
Townsville: 18–22 November, Warrina Complex

The Travelling Film Festival was started by David Stratton in 1974, while festival director.The festival gives the opportunity for international features, documentaries, and short films as well as workshops with industry guests to reach more remote areas of the country.
