Talcott talks turkey – again
News Ltd marketing boss Joe Talcott’s revelation last week that he grew up on a turkey farm triggered a further admission last night.
Speaking after the AFA’s AGM, the chairman of the AANA confided: “Last week I was at a function and it became known that I grew up on a turkey farm. It prepared me to work with turkeys, which has helped throughout my career.”
And speaking to the ad agency people in the room, he revealed he had once founded an agency himself. He said: ” I’m proud to tell you we ran that agency for seven years before we went broke.”
During a Q&A session at the end, Talcott took a question from colleague Simon Canning of the Australian, about where the advertising dollars were going to move. Canning got a laugh saying: ‘We know it won’t be to journalists – we’re all being sacked.”
But Talcott got a bigger laugh telling him: “Get off the clock.”
