Tassie TV show axed before it begins

Plans for a TV show to promote Tasmania have died almost as soon as they began.

As Mumbrella reported on Sunday, a tender document  was published over the weekend as part of the Tasmania Brand Project.

The idea was to create a TV series – fronted by an Aussie TV personality – talking up living and working in Tasmania.

But Michael Aird, the state’s minister for economic development has pulled the $500,000 tender. He issued a statement saying it was put out without the budget being signed off. He said: “The idea for the series was first mooted by Tasmanian business who wanted to promote Tasmanian innovation and success. While the idea for the series was a good one, it cannot be justified in these difficult financial times.”
