Tempest loses out as Carsales goes in-house

Online advertising network Tempest has lost one of its major clients with the decision of Carsales.com.au to take its advertising sales in-house.

However, the move has been anticipated since Tempest founder Monique Talbot sold a majority of the company to Adconion more than a year ago.

The decision sees Carsales – which claims to be Australia’s biggest auto web site – create an inhouse sales team called Mediamotive.

Talbot said: “”I think it is fantastic for Carsales.com.au that we were able to deliver above expectations every year for the last five years and I am very proud of what our team has achieved.   Carsales has worked tirelessly to continue to be the number one auto site in Australia and their advertising revenue has reflected its position.”

Mediamotive advertising director Anthony Saines, said: “This development is a response to the industry, a large part of which has been asking us for a single point of contact for ad sales across our network.”
