Dr Mumbo is highly impressed with Ten’s innovative bid to become the official network of The Shire.
First came the announcement of the network’s reworking of Puberty Blues, due to start shooting in Cronulla in the next few days.
Then came what is sure to be a delight with Being Lara Bingle, in which the Shire’s most famous export shares her glamorous existence.
And now comes Australia’s own take on Jersey Shore with “dramality” show The Shire.
I hate to break it to channel 10, but I really don’t think the shire is that interesting a place (I live there, so I have a relatively good idea)

Do Australians use the word ‘shite’?
As someone who grew up in a bogan town with burnt out cars along the main street and now lives in a tiny 2km bubble in the city (ala ‘Educating Rita’) I really hope it denigrates fuckwit behaviour, however I feel it will go over many peoples heads.
what i don’t understand is that if this show is a “soft script” drama then surely everyone who is filmed and ends up in the final cut must be paid?? we call them extras.
