Ten apologises for identifying wrong diver in story over Olympian being charged

Network Ten has apologised to diver Loudy Wiggins after it accidentally used footage of her in a story about diver Chantelle Newbery being bailed after being charged with unlawfully using a vehicle.

The ex-Olympian tweeted to The Project pointing out that it had used the wrong footage and demanding an apology.

“.@theprojecttv so do I get an apology for this? Pretty sure this is me & not Chantelle. I’m dumbfounded – please fix,” wrote the former Olympian who competed in the 1996, 2000, 2004 and 2012 games.

Loudy WigginsThe Project quickly responded noting that it was “embarrassing mistake” and that it would be corrected.

“Hi Loudy, This is an embarrassing mistake and we are really sorry. We will take it down as soon as possible.”

ProjectOn Friday, Newbery was in the media nationally after she was remanded in custody on one count of unlawful use of a vehicle. 

Newbery’s bail bid on Friday was unopposed and granted on conditions including she abide by a curfew and report regularly to police.
