Ten COO Jon Marquard departs network as Stuart Thomas joins

Jon-MarquardTen’s chief operating officer Jon Marquard has stood down after less than two years with the company.

Marquard, who joined Ten in 2011 originally as commercial director, is the latest senior departure as its CEO Hamish McLennan works to put his stamp on TV network.

A former Fox Sports COO Marquard was involved in Ten’s recent sports negotiations for the crickettheir securing of the Big Bash League and also their acquisition of the Sochi Winter Olympics. 

His departure was preceded three weeks ago by other senior departures, including the departing chief sales officer Barry O’Brien and also of chief marketing officer Tony McMaster, who left days after McLennan’s arrival at the network back in February.

“We thank Jon for his contribution to the company,” said McLennan in a statement.

Since taking the role in late February, McLennan has moved to bring in his own team appointing a number of hires includeing Matt McGrath as chief brand officer, Sarah Keith as head of research and Michael Stanford as national creative director of commercial content.

Marquard’s departure was announced in a media release that confirmed the appointment of Stuart Thomas, former director of legal and regulatory affairs and COO at Macquarie Radio Network, which operates Sydney radio station Radio 2GB.

Thomas takes the role of general counsel, beginning August 8.

“In his new role, Stuart will be responsible for Ten’s legal and commercial arrangements. He will play a key role in our continuing sport and content rights negotiations,” said McLennan.
