Ten Network – Australia’s five billion dollar stock surprise
Pop quiz: What’s Australia’s biggest media company on the ASX?
If you’d guessed Seven West Media (market capitalisation: down more than 3% in early trading but still worth $1.06bn) you’d be wrong.
Nine Entertainment Co (also down 3% this morning, to $1.46bn) is also incorrect.
Fairfax ($2bn) would be wrong too.
Apparently it’s plucky old Ten.
The little network that could is suddenly worth some big money, according to the likes of Google Finance and Yahoo Finance.
Google reckons its market capitalisation is $3.79bn.
And Yahoo Finance is going even bigger, calculating Ten as now worth $5.01bn.
Excited shareholders should make the most of it. Yesterday’s 10-for-1 stock consolidation by Ten has confused the search engines. Ten’s market cap remains a mere $500m or so.
