Ten shakes up The Bachelorette format, revealing Elly Miles and her sister Becky as this year’s co-stars

Ten’s The Bachelorette will look a little different this year, with the network revealing it will feature two women: Elly Miles – who appeared as a contestant on last year’s season of The Bachelor – and her sister, Becky.

The exact mechanics of the new format have not yet been revealed, with Ten simply saying it will involve “double the dates” and “double the roses”.

For the first time, there’ll be two Bachelorettes starring in the same season

Last season of The Bachelorette, led by Angie Kent, debuted to 716,000 metro viewers, topping the previous season debuts of Ali Oetjen and Georgia Love, but coming in under Sophie Monk’s 951,000 and Sam Frost’s 875,000. Kent’s stint as Bachelorette pulled more than 1m viewers in the final moments of the finale, and just under 850,000 for the last episode overall – a year-on-year increase, but below Monk’s finale result of 1.64m.

Earlier in the month, Kent and her Gogglebox partner Yvie Jones starred in Ebay’s latest ad.

While the launch date of the new Bachelorette season is yet to be revealed, former Survivor contestant Locky Gilbert’s season of The Bachelor will start airing on 12 August after a COVID-19 related production pause delayed the completion of filming.

Both Miles sisters said embarking on the opportunity together was one they were “blessed” to have.

“I crave a life filled with happiness, adventure and good times. I’m looking for my best mate to share those memories with,” Elly said.

“I feel extremely blessed to be on this unique ride with Becky. Having her love, support and guidance throughout this journey is so important to me and I can’t wait to be there for her, on her journey to find love as well.”

Her sister, Becky, added: “I’m on this journey to find someone who will go that extra mile, to have fun with, and be my best friend.

“I’m so blessed to share this journey with my sister, and I am hopeful that we find our people together.”
