Ten to premiere The Cube, hosted by Andy Lee, on 24 February

Ten’s new game show, The Cube, will launch on Wednesday 24 February at 7:30pm, up against Nine’s Married at First Sight, which will premiere two days earlier.

The UK-founded format Ten is calling “Australia’s ultimate skill test” was first announced in December, with comedian Andy Lee acting as both the host and an executive producer.

The primetime show involves contestants performing what seem like simple tasks, such as catching, balancing, memorising, and reacting, in a 4m x 4m x 4m clear box. The winner will receive $250,000 prize money.

“The Cube has been a huge success in the UK for years, and to bring this edge-of-your-seat game show to Australia for a local prime time version, with Andy Lee no less, is a fantastic addition to our 2021 schedule,” said Ten ViacomCBS’s head of programming, Daniel Monaghan, at the time of the program’s announcement.

The ITV Studios production is an addition to Ten’s 2021 programming slate, unveiled at the business’ upfront presentation in October. Bachelor in Paradise and Dancing With the Stars were scrapped for 2021, while the three stand out additions included Making it Australia, The Dog House, and First Inventors.

Last night, I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, the first big show on Ten this year, finished to 784,000 metro viewers, and attracted 896,000 for its winners announcement.
