Ten tops key advertising demographics with Have You Been Paying Attention? and Masterchef

Monday night TV was won and lost by its entertainment offering, with Ten achieving a second place main channel share slot thanks to Masterchef, which pulled in 889,000 metro viewers.

According to figures from OzTam’s preliminary overnight ratings, Ten’s Have You Been Paying Attention? also rated well with 854,000 metro viewers.

The two shows topped the key advertising demographics, with the 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54 demographics being topped by Masterchef and Have You Been Paying Attention? respectively.

Ten’s strong showing meant it managed to ever-so-slightly pull ahead of Nine in main channel share, with 16.6% to Nine’s 16.4%. Last Monday the two channels were neck and neck.

In total network share however, Nine managed to hold on to the second place slot with 24.9% compared to Ten’s 21.5%. The total network share includes multichannels such as 9GO!, which broadcasts Love Island Australia.

The reality TV show attracted an additional 174,000 metro viewers for Nine, and helped boost its total network share.

Nine’s most-watched entertainment show was Millionaire Hot Seat, which pulled in 591,000 metro viewers in its earlier 5.00pm time slot.

However neither Ten or Nine’s entertainment shows were able to pull in the crowds of Seven’s House Rules, with 953,000 viewers in its 7.30pm time slot.

The renovation show came third place across key advertising demographics 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54.

Competing in the same time slot for Nine was Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation with Shaun Micallef, which managed 578,000 metro viewers.

The channel’s news show pulled in the most viewers for the network, with 1.060m viewers, compared to Seven News’ 1.129m.

Overall, Seven pulled in the most viewers on its main channel, with 19.9% of the viewing audience.

ABC’s most-watched program was also its news show, which achieved 717,000 metro viewers. The broadcaster achieved a 12.9% main channel share.

None of SBS’ programs made the top 20, meaning it only managed a main channel share of 5.2%.
