Ten’s Masterchef most-watched non-news program of the night, tops the demos

Ten’s Masterchef was the most-watched entertainment show last night achieving 902,000 metro viewers and holding the top spot across the key advertising demographics 16-39, 18-49, and 25-54.

According to OzTAM’s overnight preliminary ratings, Masterchef beat Seven’s House Rule special edition, which showcased the Top 10 reveals of the previous series.

The show had 771,000 metro viewers, down from last week’s 1.087m, according to OzTAM’s overnight preliminary metro ratings.

Nationally, Masterchef had 1.252m viewers just ahead of House Rules – Top 10 Reveals, which pulled 1.248m.

Nine’s 20 to One, which aired in the same time slot, captured 526,000 metro viewers and 777,000 viewers nationally.

Nine Go’s live offering of the football clash between Brazil and Australia, aired at 7:30pm and had 221,000 viewers.

The football had a national audience of 317,000.

Later on in the evening, ABC’s David Stratton’s Stories of Australian Cinema had 592,000 metro viewers, ahead of Seven’s First Dates which had an audience of 534,000.

Nine’s Love Child achieved 518,000 metro viewers, while nationally 790,000 viewers tuned in.

Seven won Tuesday night in news, with 1.144m metro viewers at 6pm ahead of Nine’s 1.045m.

The 6:30pm timeslot had 1.047m while Nine News 6:30 had 1.034m.

While Masterchef proved a success last night, it wasn’t enough for Ten to win the night, with Seven collecting an average audience share of 18.7% and Nine achieving 17.0%, ahead of Ten’s 16.6% share.

ABC had a share of 12.3% while SBS’ was 5%.
