The best offices of 2012
In this roundup from the Encore and Mumbrella Annual, we take a look at the seven best offices from around the country.
The Google offices are more theme park than office block. The staff here have at their disposal pool tables, a computer games room, library, sleep pods, piano room and various restaurants. There’s even an aquarium and a tyre swing in the lobby.
2. GPY&R, Melbourne
Australia’s oldest creative agency is housed in the glorious converted George’s department store on Collins Street. One curious thing about the office layout is that the photocopier is placed slap-bang in the middle of the working area, which covers two floors. The idea being that everyone can see the creative work. Maxus’ Melbourne arm also calls this building home.
3. AEGIS, Melbourne
Street may have a slightly sterile exterior, yet inside it’s nothing but. The real diamond at Aegis is its three-level car park, where Mitchell flew in around 50 of the world’s best graffiti artists for a spot of redecorating.
4. Clemenger BBDO, Melbourne
The residents of 474 St Kilda Road appear to regard awards with cheeky disdain as they have piled most of them into a wheelbarrow, the insinuation being that there are too many to fit on a shelf.
5. MCM Entertainment, Melbourne
s the fact that Melbourne offices of MCM have the most amazing view from their rooftop the reason their staff are so friendly?
6. Maxus, Sydney
Hammocks, fake grass and a picket fence spice up the breakout area of this Sydney media agency.
7. Tongue, Sydney
Located in Sydney’s Chippendale, strategy agency Tongue is unmistakable for a huge fibreglass tongue sticking out above its front door that could do with a jolly good wiping down. Another agency with a quality rooftop, their fully stocked bar is an equally fabulous feature.

isn’t the wheelbarrow full of awards a page torn directly out of the Campaign Palace’s book?
