The Block dominates its slots to give Nine the ratings week
Nine won the week’s main channel ratings as The Block delivered audiences for its new season, however Seven was able to win network share on the back of a strong end-of-week performance.
The first week of The Block’s 14th season saw the show win its metro timeslots every night following last Sunday’s launch, delivering the main channel a 21.1% share against Seven’s 19.4%. Ten attracted 10.9% of the audience, trailing the ABC’s 12.2% while SBS recorded a 5.1% share.
Across the demographics, The Block proved the most popular show of the key groups – 25-54s, 16-39s and shoppers with child – however Ten had a glimmer of light with Russell Coight’s All Aussie Adventures also performing well.
Seven’s Dance Boss, which also launched this week, disappointed. The show barely scraped into the top twenty shows in most demographics and failed to make the top programs in the five city metro audience.
While Nine dominated the early part of the week, Seven’s Friday and Saturday lineup of sports and Better Homes & Gardens attracted main channel shares of 24.3% and 23.3% compared to Nine’s 17.7% and 14.2%. Seven’s performance late in the week was enough to see it win the week on network share.
Of the total network shares, Seven narrowly won the week with 29.9% over Nine’s 29.7%. The ABC’s 16.9% saw it edge out Ten’s 16.2% while SBS recorded 7.3%.
