Chaser comedian to host 2024 Mumbrella CommsCon Awards

With the 2024 CommsCon Awards just around the corner, the ceremony’s MC – a multi-talented creative and Aussie TV star – is locked in to dazzle attendees.

Musician and comedian Andrew Hansen has been booked to host the Australian communications and public relations sector’s night of nights.

Beginning his career in the creative arts in 2005, Hansen has built a prolific career off the back of his musicianship, writing and performing skills. Hansen’s wit and ability to spin a joke has been seen firsthand by several media and entertainment organisations, including the Sydney Theatre Company, radio station Triple J, the Seven Network, and more.

Best known for his work as a member of The Chaser – a comedy group whose TV shows aired on ABC for over a decade – Hansen boasts significant television credits under his belt, such as The Chaser’s War on Everything and Media Circus.

His talent for writing gave him a longstanding voice in the print space, having contributed to three publications: comedic newspaper The Chaser, Chaser Quarterly and eleven Chaser Annuals.

Outside of the creative industry, Hansen is a highly experienced public speaker and event MC. Over the course of his career, he has worked at the 2014 Lawyers Weekly Awards, the 2015 Commercial Radio Australia Siren Awards, product launches for imaging company Canon, and more.

The CommsCon Awards 2024 shortlist was announced last month, encapsulating the industry’s tastemakers and influencers.

The sectors’ eyes are locked in on several categories: PR Agency of the Year – Large (nominees include but are not limited to Herd MSL, Sefiani and Eleven), Best PR Team of the Year – In-house (spotlighting Telstra, Domain Group, Microsoft, Destination NSW and Australian Wildlife Conservancy), and Best New PR Talent of the Year (with Akin Agency’s Adelaide Haynes, Domino’s Pizza Enterprises’ Izzy Gardner, Microsoft ANZ’s Lisa Vu, History Will Be Kind’s Sarah Cefai, and ABC’s Tarnay Sass).

Specific campaigns such as ‘With You & Proud (Sydney WorldPride)’ by Ogilvy PR for American Express, and Butter Insurance’s ‘Josh from Marketing’ are also in the running for their respective categories among a competitive list of earned creative pieces of work.

The 2024 Mumbrella CommsCon Awards will take place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney on March 27, 2024 – after the corresponding conference, Mumbrella CommsCon.

Tickets for the ceremony – both for individuals and groups – are still available for purchase.
