The Fork hires James Walmsley as head of marketing
Gumtree’s senior marketing manager, James Walmsley, has joined restaurant booking service The Fork as head of marketing.
Walmsley recently led the marketing campaigns around Gumtree’s rebrand, and has also held roles at CUB, John West and Taubmans. At The Fork, he will work alongside newly-appointed country manager, Gary Burrows, to expand the service in Australia.
Walmsley said he was thrilled to be joining The Fork during a period of growth and change for the company.
“I’m thrilled to join The Fork Australia and continue to grow the community of diners and restauranteurs using The Fork every day,” he said. “I’m inspired by the customer-focused strategies and continuous innovation at The Fork and look forward to growing what we’re able to offer The Fork community, while showing Australia more of The Fork brand.”
Burrows said having the right people on your team is what makes a business successful.
“I’m excited to see what the future holds for The Fork and the team as we band together and focus on supporting Australian restaurants and becoming a think tank for the industry.”
In January, The Fork appointed Kite Communications to lead the PR around its rebrand from Dimmi. In March, following the relaunch, the brand appointed The Cru to run its PR and content.
Gumtree has been approached for comment about Walmsley’s replacement.
