The Heat stays on top of Australian box office
Action comedy The Heat, starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy, stayed top of the Australian box office for a second weekend.
The film took nearly $2.8m, across 341 screens.
It held off the opening of Hollywood disaster comedy This is the End which took nearly $2.5m, and horror movie The Conjuring which made almost $1.8m.
Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby, which was shot in Australia, continued to tick over, taking a further third of a million dollars. Its Australian box office takings have now risen to almost $27m.
