The Loved Ones finds love in Mexico
The Ambience Entertainment film will be distributed in Mexico by Tangente, the new specialised genre film division from Canana Films.
Canana is owned by Mexican actors Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna (Y Tu Mama Tambien) and Pablo Cruz. The new division follows the distributor’s success with the Swedish teenage vampire film Let the Right One In last year.
Cruz said that the Tangente label will “not ply simple shockfests”, and revealed the titles of its first five acquisitons, with deals finalised at the Berlin Film Festival: The Horde, Coming Soon, Thirst, Troubled Water and the Australian The Loved Ones.
Canana’s planned extension of their video on demand (VOD) service might see The Loved Ones reaching Central American territories too.
The Loved Ones will be released in Australia by Madman Entertainment in June.
