The Monkeys wins creative account for BCF

The Monkeys has been appointed as creative agency of record for outdoor equipment retailer BCF. The account was previously held by Clemenger BBDO Melbourne and Brisbane.

The news comes as the brand is experiencing a shake up of its agency list. Earlier this month Super Retail Group – which owns BCF – appointed OMD as its media agency of record for its brands.

New campaign work for BCF from The Monkeys will be launching later in the year.

BCF GM of Marketing Ben McConnell, said in a statement: “We’re delighted to be joining forces with The Monkeys who are as ambitious about our great brand as we are.”

The Monkeys Melbourne CEO Paul McMillan, says: “The whole agency is thrilled to be working on BCF with Ben and his team. We look forward to continuing effective, creative work in a category Australian’s love, together.”

Clemenger BBDO Melbourne and Brisbane was behind the controversial “BCF-ing Fun” brand platform and jingle which continually led to complaints to Ad Standards. BCF landed on Ad Standards’ list of most complained about ads in both 2017 and 2018, due to concerns about the language innuendo. The complaints were never upheld.
