The real reason The Chaser’s Chris Taylor and Andrew Hansen host the ACRAs each year
Dr Mumbo knows what everyone in the media industry must be thinking. Why is it that those charismatic boys from The Chaser, Chris Taylor and Andrew Hansen, are cherrypicked from the best the industry has to offer each year to host the Australian Commercial Radio Awards?
Well now we finally have the answer.
Speaking to a rabble of journalists and media people on a Zoom call to celebrate their new partnership with Nova, Hansen was asked if the duo had any spicy gossip from their years spent at the forefront of the event that celebrates the radio industry’s brightest stars.
Why do the ACRAs love these two so much?
After some suggestions were offered that were so scandalous in nature that Dr Mumbo dares not publish them, Hansen finally revealed the real reason.
“The only reason we’re even asked to host those things is because nobody else is willing to do it,” he said.
“It is the most thankless task,” he added, with a hint of defeat in his voice.
The Zoom call ended shortly after, but not before Hansen said he doesn’t actually have any gossip from the events, because they’re that boring. Although, he conceded, it does give a good chance to get up close and personal with “the same people each year”.
Dr Mumbo isn’t sure whether to take Hansen’s admission with a grain of salt, because frankly he’s never been invited to host the ACRAs, despite always making sure to keep his calendar clear.
Ah well, there’s always 2021.
