UNAA’s national comms manager to speak at Mumbrella CommsCon, plus earned creativity unravelled

The United Nations Association of Australia’s (UNAA) national communications manager, Dr Candice Woods, will speak at Mumbrella CommsCon in April 2020 to address how PR and communications can be used for the greater good.

In an era where health behaviour, climate change, human rights, complex international relations and ethical consumer consumption are under an intense spotlight, Woods will unpack how strategic communication planning can have maximum impact on Australian audiences.

She will also cover how PR, communications professionals and businesses generally can use communications to influence and inspire positive social and environmental change.

Mumbrella CommsCon, which is being held at The Fullerton Hotel in Sydney on April 2 2020, will also feature CHE Proximity’s chief creative officer, Ant White, and director of PR, Georgia Wright. The duo will share how successful agencies and brands are putting earned creativity at the epicentre of their work to create fame, buzz and drive ROI.

Using case studies from brands including IAG, Velocity, IKEA and more, White and Wright will discuss what earned creativity is, what is needed to achieve it, the theory behind it and how fame and buzz creates long-term success and results for brands.

In addition, Eleven and TBWA will analyse the difference between cultural trends and cultural values.

TBWA’s chief strategy officer, Matt Spingate; and Eleven’s GM, Fiona Milliken, and group client partner, Amy Ashworth, will use learnings from their Cultural Research Labs to explore the top cultural values for the year and how brands can get on the front foot to turn cultural trends and values into a business opportunities.

The session will highlight how earned media can both forward plan and be culturally relevant at the same time and discuss how to identify a cultural shift businesses can play into.

Speakers already announced for CommsCon 2020 include Coca-Cola South Pacific’s social media lead, Annabel Archer; One Green Bean and Coca-Cola South Pacific’s senior social creative, Simon Jackson; Red Havas’ CEO, Sarah Trombetta, and APAC business director, Grant Richmond-Coggan; and Trinity P3’s global CEO, Darren Woolley with managing director Nathan Hodges.
