Thousands of happy snaps for new P&O ad
Thousands of individual holiday snaps make up BMF’s new 45 second ad for P&O Cruises.
The images were shot using a specially-developed camera rig holding up to four Canon 5D cameras at a time, with an average of 16,000 still photographs taken on eacgh day of the eight day shoot.
The whole thing was shot during a cruise from Australia to Vanuatu and New Caledonia, using real passengers as extras.
The spot, launches in cinema tomorrow, with a 30 second version to follow on TV in January.
Richard Morgan, associate creative director at BMF, said: “With the ever increasing popularity of digital photography and social websites such as Facebook and Flickr, todayʼs travellers take hundreds of holiday snaps and share them with their friends. The campaign taps into this insight.”

I like it – the music and photos…and the people look real. I think it would make people think more about going on a cruise, which I guess is what they’re aiming for.

I like it Freshens up the image (not just oldies go on cruises). Makes you think that going on a cruise isn’t just about being stuck on a boat. A fun ad.

great insight and idea, nice execution. agree that it freshens the brand of both cruises and P&0. The target audience will like it

Bet that couple lowered the average age of the passengers on the cruise by about 20yrs. Surely P&O have the advertising budget to do something better than this?

Didn’t mind it. Certainly funked up the idea of going on a cruise.
