Titans defeat of Eels ratings turnoff for Friday night NRL audience

Friday night’s trip to Queensland for the Parramatta Eels to take on the Gold Coast Titans failed to be a major attraction for Nine’s Sydney and Brisbane viewers on Friday night, with the NRL game failing to draw as big an audience as Seven News or Nine News in the two cities.

Seven News was the most watched show of the night across the country, with 844,000 metro viewers and 1.3m viewers nationally. Meanwhile Nine News rated 786,000 metro viewers.

The NRL game – which saw the Titans trounce the Eeels 26-14 – rated 205,000 in Sydney and 160,000 in Brisbane.

The ABC’s best performer was Broadchurch which brought in a metro audience of 607,000 and a national audience of 903,000.

Ten’s Eyewitness News was the network’s most watched program with 455,000 metro viewers and a total of 634,000 national viewers.

In the breakfast battle, Seven’s Sunrise enjoyed another comfortable win over Nine’s Today, by 323,000 metro viewers to 254,000.

Overall, Seven topped Friday night’s ratings battle with a metro share of 19.3%, ahead of Nine’s 17.4%. The ANc was third with 12.2%, ahead of Ten’s 9.6%
