The new boss of News Corp Julian Clarke is to make what is likely to be his first public appearance in the role in a fortnight’s time.

Clarke will join the bosses of APN News & Media, Fairfax Media and West Australian Newspapers for a panel being held at Future Forum, organised by The Newspaper Works.

The session will be moderated by AdStream boss Peter Miller, with the audience being invited to submit questions. At the time of posting, Newspaper Works had not responded to Mumbrella’s question about the process of vetting questions. An email to delegates said their questions would be “randomly selected”.

Along with Clarke will be Fairfax’s Greg Hywood, APN’s Michael Miller and The West Australian’s Chris Wharton.

Clarke took the helm of News Corp Australia on Monday after the abrupt departure of Kim Williams last week.

“We’re delighted and proud to feature this panel discussion with the four publisher CEOs on stage together as the opener of this year’s Future Forum Plenary,” said Mark Hollands, CEO of The Newspaper Works in an announcement.

“The CEOs have all agreed that this is an excellent opportunity to address questions from industry participants who will be attending the Future Forum, and we’re sure there will be plenty of fascinating debate,” he said

Delegates have been told via email: “Have you got a burning question that you want to ask the CEO’s of Australia’s four largest newspaper publishers?… Don’t hold back. Questions will be randomly selected on the day.”

Topics for the Future Forum include business strategy; selling mobile; content and commercial strategies for social; data journalism; and the future of regional journalism.
