Toshiba ends five-year ties with Maxus, appoints Match Media

Electronics brand Toshiba has appointed Match Media as its buying agency after a competitive review.

The appointment brings to an end Toshiba’s five-year relationship with GroupM agency Maxus.

The win for Match, which will handle both Toshiba’s traditional and digital media, is yet more good news for the independent, which was recently named Mumbrella’s Media Agency of the Year.

Mariana Thomas, national marketing manager of Toshiba Australia, said: “One of the criteria we were looking for in the new agency was the ability to demonstrate an understanding of our market and our business and to present a holistic approach with effective and innovative ideas across all types of media.”

She added: “I would like to thank Maxus for working with Toshiba over the past five years and we wish them well for the future.”

Match director James Simmons commented: “We are delighted to be working with Toshiba. Over the pitch process we became infected by their passion and the innovation that has driven the Toshiba business.  We look forward to bringing those values to life in media”.

“This tops a great year for Match, who along with Mumbrella agency of the year were announced both Independent and Media Agency of the year in the Campaign Asia awards earlier this year.”
