Touch football wins with Footy Cash from DoorDash

On-demand delivery platform DoorDash has partnered with Touch Football Australia to launch a $100,000 grant-based funding program.

The announcement:

NRL touch football cubs across the country have the chance to take a bite out of the $100,000 Footy Cash from DoorDash funding grant.

On-demand delivery platform DoorDash has partnered with Touch Football Australia to launch a $100,000 grant-based funding program, allowing affiliated Touch Football clubs across the country to apply for funds on a need’s basis.

From Tuesday 15th February, Touch Football clubs will have the chance to have their stories heard and request a helping hand from sponsor DoorDash, who are committed to giving back to the local communities that need it most.

Being the largest social team sport in the country, Touch Football has over 700,000 participants across Australia, many of which are social and work-colleague teams. The social emphasis on the game has only encouraged more people to come together and reconnect post-lockdowns, with some regions seeing up to 20 per cent growth.

Supporting the campaign are NRL stars Ryan Papenhuyzen from Melbourne Storm and Brisbane Broncos captain Ali Brigginshaw, who will be travelling to all corners of the country to deliver the good news and supplies to the winning clubs.

Having started playing touch football at an early age in his home town of Kellyville, NSW, Papenhuyzen is proud to be supporting the community that shaped his career.

“It’s our grass roots communities and local clubs that are the heart and soul of our code. Being able to give back to the communities who embody the spirit of the sport is what will help give them the greatest opportunity to grow both in the game and in life.”

Brigginshaw, who also made her NRL start with Touch Football, says DoorDash’s grant will go a long way in helping local clubs and communities get the support they need.

“DoorDash is helping us make an impact on Australians from all walks of life, from all corners of the country. Whether they’re in need of new uniforms, a new field or assistance travelling to a
tournament, this grant knows no bounds in giving back to our TFA communities.”

DoorDash Australia general manager Rebecca Burrows says the grant is just one way DoorDash is aiming to go above and beyond the role of a typical sport sponsor.

“We are proud to be partnering with Touch Football Australia to support the local clubs that champion friendship, connection, fitness and fun within their teams. At DoorDash, we are passionate about local communities and delivering good, so we’re proud and honoured to be able to contribute in a tangible way.”

“The Footy Cash from DoorDash funding grant allows us to acknowledge the impact that these clubs have on their communities and say thank you by being able to provide the infrastructure and resources they need to keep supporting the players, coaches, families and members,” said Burrows.

Applications open Tuesday 15th February and close Tuesday 15th March. Successful applicants will be notified on Thursday 14th April. For application instructions and competition terms and conditions, visit https://doordashfootycash.com/
