Triple M Perth gets its own Rush Hour with Lachy Reid and Andrew Embley

Notably absent from the newly launched 92.9 Triple M Perth until now, the Rush Hour brand will now extend to Southern Cross Austereo’s latest WA offering, with Lachy Reid and Andrew Embley joining for the new show.

Triple M’s Rush Hour airs across its other metro markets, and now will be heard in Perth between 6pm and 7pm on weekdays.

In a first for SCA and Perth radio in general, Triple M’s Rush Hour with Lachie and Embers will be available to download as a podcast before it goes to air.

This suggests that the show won’t be taking live callers on air, in a move away from the call-back which features on several other Rush Hour offerings across the Triple M network.

The show’s hosts are Lachie Reid, Channel Ten sports presenter and member of the Triple M Call Team, and ex-West Coast premiership winner and Norm Smith Medalist Andrew ‘Embers’ Embley, who has been part of the Triple M team since 2013.

Ahead of the show’s kick off on Monday, 22 February, Embley said: “I’m so excited to be on air, I feel the people of Perth have forgotten who I am,”

“Lachy Reid owes me! If it wasn’t for our football club creating headlines through the mid-2000s, he would be unemployed! If you reckon those times were wild, wait until you hear the show!”

Reid added: “In 2006, Andrew Embley was hard to control in the Grand Final, and I dare say nothing will change.”

92.9 Triple M Perth content director Tim Arnold said the pair will bring their “unique friendship” to Triple M listeners.

“They’re just as comfortable regaling each other with their knowledge of AFL and their off-field stories, as they are giving each other a fair amount of schtick… particularly around Lachy’s shiny head.”

Triple M Perth launched at the beginning of 2021, with SCA ditching the Hit brand in the city.

The station launched with a breakfast lineup of former 6PR breakfast host and Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas, ex-Hit92.9 host and AFL player Xavier Ellis and Whe West Australian’s assistant editor Jenna Clarke.
