Triple M reveals details of shaken-up schedule
Austereo has announced further details of its wide-ranging changes to its Triple M lineup for 2011.
Comedian Mick Molloy will join the Melbourne Hot Breakfast show and do a daily segment with Sydney’s The Grill Team.
The Grill Team will also see hosts Mark Geyer and Gus Worland joined by Chris Page who replaces Stuart McGill
Triple M also has a new drivetime lineup with relative unknowns Nick Maxwell and Declan Faye helming The Sweetest Plum from 4-6pm Monday to Thursday, in Sydney. This follows the departure of Paul Murray to talk station 2UE.
Rush Hour with James Brayshaw and Billy Brownless will continue in drive in Melbourne Monday to Thursday.
Roy & HG will helm drivetime on Fridays.
A further change will see Triple M carry The Peanut Gallery with Jeff Wortman and Paul Hogan from 7-9 pm Monday – Friday.
The start of the radio ratings year will see a string of new lineups across most commercial stations.
Let’s hope they also invest in a new mix CD and stop playing the same tracks hourly. Shame Stuart McGill has left the grill team, the only one with a brain, but on the plus side at least Paul Murray is gone.

Are you sure about this Tim?
The Rush Hour’s (Melbourne Drive) Facebook page is talking up its return in 3 days time http://www.facebook.com/triplemrushhour
It would make more sense that ‘The Sweetest Plum’ is only going into the Sydney market.

Mick Molloy…
Another reason not to tune in.

What happened to the guys on Triple M Drive in Melbourne? No mention of Brayshaw and co?
And the reference to Chris Page (or Pagey, as he is known on air, which sounds like a lame Today Network nickname to make him sound cool) as a replacement for Stuart MacGill leaves a little to be desired guys. If anything, he replaces Byron Cooke who is anchoring the new drive show for the Today Network. You can’t ‘replace’ a test cricket with a knob twirler and I hope that’s not how Triple M is spinning these changes.
It’s a shame they didn’t have the foresight to add Spoonman into the mix at breakfast, either reading news or as a member of the team, which would spice things up (as Stuart MacGill was the guy responsible for doing that last year) and give a bit more gravitas to the show because Spooney has been around triple M so long and brings a lot of cred with him. Alternatively, another well-spoken sports star would have been appropriate, given the show is supposed to be sports-focused.
Mick Malloy may be OK, but I would have gone for someone more like Billy Birmingham. He’s worked well on the Dead Set Legends with Ray Warren in Sydney and we all know how well Mick Molloy has gone on radio since he split with Tony Martin. Oops, sorry, I probably shouldn’t mention Tony Martin in the same rant as Triple M… a bit of a sore point for many.

Hi Tim & Scott,
There was an error in the original Triple M annoiuncement. In fact there are still separate drive shows for Sydney and Melbourne and I’ve now updated the story to reflect that.
Cheers,
Tim – Mumbrella
I also believe Rachel Corbett is replacing Sammi Lucas as the news reader in Sydney

@ Scott I think Tony Martin and Martin Molloy together has become a bit of a sore point in general these days. Damn shame though…

Actually you havent updated your story to reflect what’s happening. Triple M in Melbourne are on air saying the Rush Hour is back monday. All the other press has this right, so are you sure it was Triple M’s announcement that was wrong?

The Grill Team.
The Peanut Gallery
The Sweetest Plum
I heard Triple M were going to use the slogan “THe Fresh Food People” until the realised it was already taken.
Another January, another new line up for the once mighty Ms.

Hi Martin,
Sometimes cacheing means you can’t see an updated version of a story for a few minutes. But yes it is updated, and yes, unfortunately Triple M did make a mistake in their announcement. Easily done, and easily corrected.
Cheers,
Tim – Mumbrella
MacGill was the only reason I listened to the Grill Team. I imagine working like a talentless hack like Gus Worland would be a strain. I noticed that they have thrown poor Rachel Corbett into the mix – she is too good a talent to become the “moral voice” of a blokey radio show. Again, MMM, you have no idea.

Like everything else in the world things can change so quickly…however I think we need to give it a chance before we all change the dial. Worland is a bit of a “Sooky La La” but I don’t mind MG…let’s not throw the baby out with the bath water until we have given them a chance to put their own spin on the altered line up. My opinion is good ridance to MacGill who would do much better on AM talkback radio where he could throw his opinions down devoted listeners throats…it was never in his nature to try and make the program light hearted enough to get you through peak hour trafiic to work having had a few laughs instead of feeling like you need to buy a tazer and become the next instigator of road rage! Good luck boys!

Shame Magill has gone, I liked him in the mix. The Grill Team seems to be missing something without his opinionated views – even if they did piss a lot of people off. Agree with Mark, Rachel Corbett is good at chat, but she’s a fairly ordinary newsreader. And who is this Pagey bloke?

Big risk putting Sweetest Plum on the Sydney Drive shift. Very, very raw team whom are currently not very good. ATM they broadcast a late night show from Melbourne. Will they remain there and broadcast in to Sydney ? – that could get ugly.
