TV Ratings: Aus vs West Indies bats well for Seven

The women’s Australian Open semi-finals on Nine was the top program in sports and entertainment last night, however, a consistent audience for day one of the second Australia v West Indies test handed total share to Seven.

Nine’s night time coverage of Australian Open coverage brought in an average metro audience of 488,000 for the network, dropping to 480,000 in the second session.

On Seven, the Australia v West Indies Second Test Day 1 peaked with an average metro audience of 433,000 in the third session, but managed to hold an average metro audience upwards of 289,000 from session 1 earlier in the day.

In other entertainment, Nine’s Tipping Point brought in 270,000 average metro viewers and the Australian of the Year Awards on ABC saw 260,000 average metro viewers tune in.

Seven News topped overall ratings with 697,000 average metro viewers, followed by 9News with 622,000.

In total TV, Seven News was the top rating program for Thursday January 18, with a total audience of 1.275 million and 38,000 on national BVOD.

As mentioned Seven took out an overall win in daily share on 32.6%, just ahead of Nine on 32.2%. ABC had a share of 15.2%, Ten had 11.3% and SBS 8.6%.
