TV ratings: The Medium Sized Bang Theory
Nine’s triple bill of The Big Bang Theory failed to tantalise viewers on Wednesday night.
The show rated 767,000, 724,000 and 692,000 according to preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam – 11th, 13th and 14th for the night.
The poor inherited audience also hurt BBC drama Sherlock which rated 738,000.
Ten also had another bad night. The Biggest Loser was its best performer with 856,000 while Talkin Bout Your Generation averaged 633,000. A bright spot was Ten News At Five which had its strongest ratings of the year with 773,000 viewers.
Seven was strong for most of the night. My Kitchen Rules – recommissioned for a fourth series yesterday – rated 1.8m. Please Marry My Boy rated 1.084m.
In the key advertiser demographicss Nine and Ten fared slightly better. Although MKR won the 18-49, 16-39 and 25-54 demos and Please Marry My Boy was second, Biggest Loser was third for Ten and all three Big Bang episodes made the top ten for Nine.

Channel Nine won’t learn their lesson about overkill when one of their programs scores good ratings. They did it with Gordon Ramsay, they did it with Two and a Half Men and now they’ve done it with Big Bang Theory. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing and the ratings are now bearing this out.
