TV Wrap: Seven gains ground on Nine in weekly share; MAFS tops Sunday evening

The AFL season’s launch on Seven has helped the network make headway in the weekly share. However, it was Nine that topped the week ending 18 March again, keeping its eight-week winning streak.

Nine’s winning streak started during the Australian Open in January, and it has since kept every weekly crown as its reality show, Married At First Sight (MAFS), dominates the ratings.

The overall network share for Nine was 30.6% last week, closely followed by Seven with 29%, ABC with 17.6% and Ten with 14.7%. Nine was also the top-rated primary channel of the week with a 23.2% share.

In Sunday overnight, MAFS topped the metro programming with 927,000 metro viewers, topping all three key advertising demos. Meanwhile, Australian Survivor on Ten followed in entertainment with 552,000 metro viewers.

Death in Paradise on ABC brought in 485,000 metro viewers, followed by Australian Idol on Seven with 467,000 metro viewers. The AFL Sunday Afternoon football attracted 379,000 metro viewers.

The #1 news program on Sunday night was Seven News with 882,000 metro viewers, followed by Nine News with 783,000 and 60 Minutes on Nine with 554,000.

The top network on Sunday was Nine network with a 35.2% share, followed by Seven with 25.3%, Ten with 16.9% and ABC with 14.4%.

Nine was the top-rated primary channel with a 28.2% share, while 9Go and 7Two tied as the top-rated multichannels, with a 2.7% share each.

In the latest Daily Consolidated 7 Total TV Report for 12 March, MAFS on Nine last Sunday was the #1 program nationally with 1.92 million Total TV viewers, including 608,000 on BVOD and the biggest uplift of 60%.
