TV Wrap: Seven’s Idol ends on a high note; Nine takes the week

The grand finale of Seven’s Australian Idol on Sunday has aired to 573,000 metro viewers, while the winner announcement pulled in 596,000 metro viewers.

Idol’s first season in more than a decade ended on a high note, refreshing its metro viewership record last night.

Meanwhile, Nine’s Married At First Sight (MAFS) and Ten’s Australian Survivor, which were launched at the same time as Idol, are set to finish tonight.

MAFS topped entertainment on Sunday night with 924,000 metro viewers, while also winning all three key advertising demos.

Australian Survivor attracted 522,000 metro viewers, followed by ABC’s Death in Paradise in Sunday entertainment overnight, with 469,000 metro viewers.

Nine won the week ending 25 March with a 31.7% network share, followed by Seven with 28.6% and ABC with 17.3%. Nine was also the top-rated primary channel of the week with a 24.1% share.

The #1 program on Sunday night was Seven News with 935,000 metro viewers.

Nine network won the overall share on Sunday night with 33.6%, followed by Seven with 28.9%, Ten with 15.6% and ABC with 14.8%.

The top-rated primary channel of the night was Nine with 27.4%, but the top-rated multichannel was 7Two with 2.6%.

In the latest Daily Consolidated 7 Total TV Report for 19 March, MAFS on Nine last Sunday was the #1 program nationally with 1.91 million Total TV viewers, including 573,000 on BVOD and the biggest uplift of 53%.
