Twitter integrates Periscope into app to launch live video
Twitter has added streaming service Periscope into its phone application to bring a live video offering to users.
The announcement comes more than a year after Facebook Live was brought into the market and almost two years after Twitter purchased Periscope.
Periscope will now function within the Twitter application to allow users to broadcast live, as well as interact with videos by retweeting, commenting and sending hearts.
Kayvon Beykpour, CEO at Periscope, said they started the brand to give people the “superpower” to share live video.
“Twitter’s already the place where people go to see what’s happening. With this update, anyone can now broadcast what’s happening live.”
