UBI World TV adds Arabic channels for Ramadan

In anticipation of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan multicultural pay TV broadcaster UBI World TV will add two Arabic channels to its line up.

The announcement:

Australia’s largest multicultural pay TV broadcaster, UBI World TV has added two of the world’s most popular Arabic channels to its line-up ahead of a national subscriber marketing campaign for the Muslim holy month of Ramadan this August.

Leading Arabic news channel Al Arabiya and the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation (LBC) channel LBC Australia join 30 other Arabic channels on the leading multi-cultural broadcaster.

Ramadan, which runs from August 7 to September 9, is the biggest social and religious event of the year for the world’s 1.3 billion Muslims.

Many brands targeting Muslim consumers often spend more than half their annual advertising budgets during the four weeks.

Local and national advertisers on UBI World TV for Ramadan include NSW Multicultural Health Communication Services, Human Appeal International, Logitel Communications and Mayne Rugs.

Al Arabiya is a direct competitor to the controversial Arab news channel Al Jazeera.

LBC is one of the most popular broadcasters in Lebanon and is owned by Saudi media and technology investor, Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal.

UBI World TV President Regina Boulos said, “Australia is one of the most important Muslim television markets across the world and a country with a strong appetite for international channels. With the launch of Al Arabiya and LBC International, we have greatly expanded our reach into Australian homes.

“We look forward to providing our Arabic-speaking audiences across Australia and New Zealand with high quality entertainment and objective perspective on global news and current affairs. All UBI World TV subscribers can now enjoy the widest possible range and choice of international news channels of any pay TV platform in Australia and New Zealand”, she added.

Al Arabiya and LBC are provided to all UBI Arabic subscribers at no additional cost.

Al Arabiya prides itself on its unbiased, objective and credible reportage. It gained international recognition in 2009 when US President Barack Obama gave the channel his first formal interview as US President. LBC was the first private television station in Lebanon and is one of the most popular.
