Underbelly won the evening for Nine for the third week running although Top Gear had a much better showing on SBS last night.
The show, which returned to the blood and violence of the first series, took an average audience of 2.3m, according to preliminary OzTam data.
Meanwhile, Top Gear – a Vietnam special – was the right side of a million for the first time this ratings season with an audience of 1.01m.
But combined with a replay of the Hugh Jackman-hosted Oscars, Nine easily won the night.
