Urban List and Square team up to support local businesses

Urban List and Square have partnered to offer local businesses the chance to win $95,000 in support.

The announcement:

2020 has been crippling for many of Australia’s small businesses, so Urban List and Square have teamed up to offer their support, launching the ‘Open For Business’ competition in celebration of what all local operators bring to our cities’ culture.

A recent study from Urban List revealed 94% of Australians believe it’s more important than ever to support small business* — prompting the partnership with Square — and the two brands have come together to turn the statistic into action, activating millions of Aussies and small business advocates across six cities.

‘Open For Business’ asks Australians to either nominate their favourite local, or advocate for businesses that need a leg up, with all nominees eligible to win a share of $95,000 in marketing support across Urban List and a Square hardware pack encapsulating tangible support to drive traffic through their doors and reduce infrastructure costs.

Urban List’s Founder and CEO, Susannah George, is thrilled to see the partnership come to life and the support it’s driven for small businesses so far.

“It’s so powerful to work with other companies and brands who share the same values and aspirations as you do, and our ‘Open For Business’ partnership with Square is the perfect example of the purposeful work we all need to be doing right now”, said George.

“We both share the same passion for small businesses — they are an integral part of our local communities and culture — and we are committed to ensuring as many local operators as possible feel supported and championed by their community.”

“We’re all facing unusual challenges right now as the global fight against COVID-19 continues, and for business owners the stakes are particularly high,” said Jessica Cook, Head of Marketing for Square Australia.

“This partnership provides a great opportunity for Australian businesses to access some of the best technology and marketing tools available to get their operations, staff and customers back on track”.
