Victoria Racing Club hires Nikki Clarkson as CMO

Nikki Clarkson – the former chief marketing officer of Southern Cross Austereo – has been named the new CMO of the Victoria Racing Club (VRC).

In her new role, Clarkson will helm the VRC’s operations in key areas – social media, digital, communications, marketing, production and content – tasked with bolstering brand innovation and growth across all Flemington assets year-round, including its “showpiece” event, the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

An experienced marketing leader, Clarkson spent 13 years at SCA, beginning in July 2011 as its head of marketing and communications.

In November 2019, she was promoted her to the CMO role, which she held for more than four years before leaving in June last year.

Overall, her career has given her more than 25 years of experience in media commercialisation, digital strategy, brand management and content creation.

VRC’s chief executive officer Kylie Rogers said Clarkson’s experience will be an invaluable asset to VRC and its goals.

“We are thrilled to appoint Nikki to the role of chief marketing officer,” she said.

“Nikki has extensive experience in understanding the wants and needs of customers, the power of media and content and the importance of storytelling.

“Nikki shares our enthusiasm for the future of Flemington Place and recognises the huge opportunities that lie ahead for the VRC. She will be an asset for our club, VRC partners and the wider racing industry.”

Clarkson commented on her new appointment, revealing that she’s look forward to shaping the club’s future.

“I am thrilled and proud to be joining one of the world’s greatest sporting and entertainment institutions, and look forward to working with Kylie, the board and the wider VRC team to contribute to an exciting future for the club and the Flemington Place precinct,” Clarkson expressed.

Her appointment makes her the latest addition to the club’s C-suite team, with Leigh Jordan having joined as chief racing officer in December.

Clarkson will begin at VRC on March 17, with more C-suite appointments expected to be announced in due course.
