Virgin Mobile to sponsor Splendour in the Grass

Music festival Splendour in the Grass will be sponsored by Virgin Mobile, the brand has revealed. The telco was previously the main sponsor of this years V Festival which was axed.The announcement:

Continuing its involvement in all things music & festival, Virgin Mobile today announced its inaugural sponsorship of the 10th Annual Arts and Music Festival Splendour in the Grass 2010.

In an Australian music festival first, Virgin Mobile will bring the awesome elements of this popular music festival to the masses by streaming the entire The Temper Trap set live from the festival from 21.15pm on Friday 30 July, in partnership with News Limited. The Temper Trap are Australia’s most exciting music export of the past 10 years. The breakthrough act is billed as one of the headliners of this year’s coveted festival and with a solid reputation for incredible live shows, this is expected to be a hotly anticipated web cast. The stream will be available on News Limited sites including News.com.au, Dailytelegraph.com.au, Heraldsun.com.au, Adelaidenow.com.au, Couriermail.com.au, Theaustralian.com.au and Perthnow.com.au as well as MySpace Australia. It will also be available to view online for four months after the event, should festival goers and others want to relive the magic set.

Building on its existing philosophy of providing a more rewarding telco relationship and treating its customers as Members, not numbers, Virgin Mobile has got treats galore planned for each of its customers attending the festival.

Members will get the full VIP experience wherever possible. Glamorous bathrooms known as ‘The Posh Pit’ (cleaned often!) and an express bar queue called ‘The Fast Lane’ at the busy Saloon Bar, will both be available exclusively for Virgin Mobile customers attending the festival, and their special guest. Virgin

Mobile will also be hosting The Power Point – a place to charge mobile phones and get Pre-Paid credit (or ask where the bathrooms are), open to Virgin Mobile customers and others.

All Virgin Mobile customers attending will also receive a recyclable mobile phone battery recharger upon their arrival. The branded mobile phone battery rechargers will be available for non-customers to purchase at cost throughout the festival. Finally, Virgin Mobile will be providing FREE campground shuttle buses for all attendees to help them navigate the 5km festival and camping ground.

Virgin Mobile is making the festival experience available to the thousands of people who missed out on tickets, as well as the hundreds of thousands of The Temper Trap fans around the world,” said Virgin Mobile’s Head of Brand and Relationship Marketing, Rob Nolan. “For those lucky enough to be going, we’re going to ensure our Virgin Mobile Members and a lucky friend get extra-special treatment on-site.” Helping to cater for the 20,000 festival-goers that will be camping at this year’s Splendour in the Grass, Virgin Mobile has also given away 1,000 free branded double tents to both Virgin Mobile customers and non-customers. The sold out Splendour in the Grass festival will be held across three days from Friday July 30 to Sunday August 1 – at Woodford in Queensland, for the event’s 10th anniversary.
