Vodafone becomes major partner of Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras

Vodafone has become a major partner of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Festival for 2018.

The agreement comes after Vodafone launched its employee-led ‘Connect’ initiative which champions equality and individuality, offering employees support and guidance.

Terese Casu, SGLMG CEO, said in a statement: “Vodafone’s continual encouragement to support an open, collaborative and inclusive environment in the workplace, as well as their support for the wider LGBTIQ community makes us proud to announce Vodafone as our new major partner for Mardi Gras’ 40th anniversary year.

“I’m looking forward to working with Vodafone seeing some of the incredible things they bring to the coming Festival.”

Vanessa Hicks, director of HR at Vodafone, added: “At Vodafone we believe in equality for everyone. As a business, we’re committed to supporting our employees, customers and the wider community by fostering a safe and inclusive environment that celebrates people regardless of their background, gender or sexuality.

“We are incredibly excited to give our staff the opportunity to show their support by marching in the Sydney Mardi Gras parade this year and we are proud to be part of Mardi Gras following what has been a historic movement and landmark year for equality in Australia.”
