Western Sydney Wanderers sign on JD Sports as major sponsor in youth push

A-League team Western Sydney Wanderers has announced JD Sports as the club’s co-major shirt partner for the 2018/19 season.

The partnership will see JD Sports’ insignia on Wanderers away and yet-to-be released third shirts.

The sponsorship is part of the brand’s strategy to target Western Sydney’s youth demographic, Western Sydney Wanderers CEO John Tsatsimas said.

“JD Sports’ expansion into the Western Sydney market has been phenomenal and their place in youth sports culture is unquestionable,” he said.

“We are very excited to have JD Sports on our Away and highly-anticipated new third kit that we look forward to bringing to life with them and our foundation partner Nike very soon.”

Hilton Seskin, head of JD Sports Australia added: “We’ve established a significant footprint and customer base within Western Sydney, and the expanded Wanderers partnership reinforces our commitment to the local community.

“From our entry into the marketplace, the Wanderers have been a fantastic support in helping to authenticate the JD brand and we’re excited to keep working with the club at an elevated level.”

Seskin said the implications for the partnership were extensive.

“This partnership follows the global strategy of aligning with football and gives us a true international footprint within the sport through multiple leagues.”
