What are mums for? Vacuuming of course
So is everyone clear on their gender roles?
Any problems or questions, just check in with the 2Day FM website. Black + Decker can help.
Because what’s the best mother’s day ever?
Winning a cordless vacuum of course.
This a Black and Decker advertisement and nothing to do with 2dayFM, right?

This kind of thing infuriates me. It’s everywhere.. Apparently women are the only ones who clean toilets, wipe benches and run dishwashers too. The only thing you see men clean in tv ads is the car! Get with the program marketers.

I think statistically you would find that Mum’s have a higher propensity to vacuum the house than Dad’s.
As a male, I don’t take offence when beer ad’s are plastered all over the websites I frequent

Must be struggling for content guys?

Now if it was a Dyson you’d be targeting males.

Do you know how expensive a good vacuum cleaner is? Why is this wrong? I’m female and I bought myself a dyson but would have loved if someone bought it for me. I’ve had a few work colleagues and friends who have bought their mums vacuum cleaners as presents and its their mums love it!!
Advertising is meant to target their “target audience”, and reflect reality so why do people get to outraged. They also target female for other household items/duties such as thermomix’s, laundry powder, pots and pans.. ect!! STOP WITH THE OUTRAGE CULTURE ALREADY!!!

@6
Outrage at the outrage, very meta.

For all you marketers – market segmentation is out – it’s not PC – so please ensure your marketing plans are inclusive of all those who aren’t likely to buy your products.
Similarly, the woman holding the hoover appears to be quite tall so I think it is majorly important that the rights of us shorter people be reflected in the ad as a matter of urgency.
As an aside, my wife bought our hoover…she’s better paid…does this make it all ok?
Have I accidentally clicked on the Guardian…I was looking for informed marketing insights?

At the same time I don’t particularly want to be flogged Top Gear DVDs or Dire Straits albums on Father’s Day. My Dyson is on its last legs though…

@ comment 6. You really do appear to be a troll. Are you a woman?
A mate of mine is very practical, logical and rational. He bought his wife pots and pans for Christmas and she cried. She didn’t forgive him for months. Put simply, he sucks at cooking, she does the cooking (the cats mother). What he thought would produce ‘bingo!’ turned into “you dingo!”.
IS THE STATEMENT: ‘MEN AND FROM MARS, WOMEN ARE FROM VENUS’, SEXIST?
(Sorry caps lock…)

@Suck – I am 100% serious. Do you also know how good a cordless vacuum cleaner is – if not then you obviously don’t do any housework!! and it would be guys like you who continue the stereotype of only women cleaning!!!
I don’t believe your mates friend cried because pots and pans were a sterotypical gift – its most likley because he doesnt help her cook so its a chore rather than an enjoyment.. me personally I love cooking – each to their own. You don’t like or dislike a gift just because its stereotypical male or female. M
