What’s that say on your t-shirt? It says fuck, Peter. Thanks for asking
As a journalist Dr Mumbo acknowledges there are some questions you ask, and then immediately regret.
Here is one such example from Sky News’ Peter van Onselen, who made what in retrospect was the rookie error of asking the leader of a student protest what was on her carefully covered-up t-shirt.
The rest, as they say, is TV history.

Gosh. What if she’d been around a year ago and substituted ‘Tony Abbott’ for ‘Julia Gillard’?
Of course, the ABC would be all over it, along with Ms Hanson-Young, Mr Jones and the cast of Q&A, Mr Shorten, that Greens leader whose name escapes me, Ms Plibersek… et cetera et cetera.
Strange how the refrain and the principles change in the face of ideological circumstance and convenience.
A convenient truth, maybe.

Or.. its just that Tony Abbott is a CgrubT

@Rob get a grip it was Sky news, it was funny, and it had nothing to do with your convenient truth whatever you think that means.

So if I knew what her name was, and I got a T Shirt printed up with the slogan “F**K (whatever her name is)”, because I don’t agree with her ideologies, she’d be perfectly fine with it, wouldn’t try and abuse me for it or use Legal Aid to sue me for defamation?
Of course she would. But as she would say herself (in a different context), ‘One rule for some, a different rule for others’.
BTW, I agree. Peter van Onselen, what a stupid question, she was always going to say that or unzip the cardigan and show it. When did Sky News become ‘A Current Affair’? I missed that memo…

Well said, Rob @ 4:08pm. One should target the policies if they disagree, but show the office respect – he was democratically elected, after all.

you have a short memory Rob. Abbott, Bronnie Bishop et all stood grinning ear to ear next to placards with very, very uncomplimentary language and depictions of PM Gillard. Thankfully Shorten is not taking a leaf from the Abbot in opposition playbook.

On the contrary , Frank. I thoroughly disagreed with the way in which Ms Gillard was treated and characterised. I simply ask why those who were so vociferous about this sort of behaviour under the previous management suddenly don’t care when Mr Abbott is the object.

@Rob This was Sky News?

The behaviour is endemic. It is not peculiar to Sky News.
