While Coles and Woolies are under the pump, ALDI is going on holiday
In what is being dubbed an Australian first for supermarkets, ALDI is launching a new travel range.
While supermarket giants Coles and Woolworths continue to deal with legal proceedings brought forward by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), ALDI has launched a new online portal where shoppers can browse “ALDI escapes, cruises and tour deals” through a new partnership with Ignite Travel Group.
“We are excited to be taking off in a new direction to make planning and booking a holiday a more enjoyable experience for Australians and in our signature, Good Different way with ALDI Holidays. This service, in partnership with Ignite Travel, will unlock incredible value and help all types of travelers create truly unforgettable experiences,” ALDI Australia group director, Rodney Balech, said.
“With ALDI Holidays we’re bringing our Special Buys to the skies, offering savvy travelers premium holiday options. From budget-friendly bliss to extravagant escapes, there are different levels of luxury for every keen explorer.”

Look for people
Apart from Giant supermarkets, lots of smaller outlets don’t have prices on their shelves or products. We have to pick up items and take it to the cashier to confirm prices. Individual items should have price tags always. ACCC should check every shops for price tags and goods on specials. Even gas stations selling consumer goods at triple the price. There should be price control so that consumers can benefit from what they choose to buy.
I don’t know what all the fuss is about. I have been shopping at my local Woolworths store for over 50 years and, in all that time, I have only once discovered a discrepancy between the price on the shelf and that at the checkout. The prices always correspond with those advertised in the media. One of the biggest problems is not the company but the customers! Either through malice, dishonesty, carelessness or just stupidity, they take items off the shelves and replace them in a different position causing all sorts of issues for the staff and other customers.
