Whybins wins Taronga Zoo from Ogilvy
Sydney’s Taronga and Western Plains Zoo has appointed Whybin\TBWA\Sydney to handle its advertising after a four-month pitch that involved at least ten agencies.
Whybins displaces incumbent Ogilvy.
Paul Davies, the zoo’s GM of marketing, guest and commercial operations, said: “We are working towards our July school holidays with the agency, but you will see us launching a whole new integrated platform. Whybin really impressed us with its integrated and digital approach, which is a major focus for the zoo now.”
Whybins boss Paul Bradbury said: “We have the opportunity to create a difference, in how people think about the zoo and animal conservation in general. That itself provides an incredible motivation to produce some strong work.”
10 agencies. 4 months. You’re a zoo, not an FMCG multi-national.

Yes. 10 agencies working over 4 months. Pretty sad picture of how desperate tis industry has become, really.

10 agencies? You all belong in a zoo.

I heard that Ogilvy declined to repitch for the account. So this headline is a bit sensationalist to say the least.

they should have put the concepts up in the chimpanzee enclosure and picked the one that ended up with the least shit thrown at it…..a lot quicker, and no less scientific, than the process they went through.
