WPP and OMG secure Amazon media account

Omnicom Media Group (OMG) and WPP have been named as the new agencies taking over Amazon’s media account.

Initially reported by Adweek, Mumbrella understands that both agencies will handle the account in different regions – Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), and Asia Pacific (APAC) for WPP; OMG will look after the Americas.

The move will see IPG Mediabrands continue working as the digital retailer’s international media partner for some of its brands, such as Amazon Ads and Amazon Web Services.

It comes after a review process that lasted more than half a year, covering the agencies’ media expertise in different regions and in the market.

“After a comprehensive advertising agency review for our consumer business, we’ve chosen to partner with OMG and WPP,” explained Aamazon spokesperson, Margaret Callahan.

“We appreciate the discussions with of all the world-class agencies we met during our search.”

Callahan also thanked IPG for its past and oncoming work with the retail giant.

“We particularly want to thank IPG, who has been a fantastic partner over the last 10+ years, and we’re grateful for all their work and continued partnership for the other significant areas of our advertising business, including AWS, Amazon Ads and Amazon Business.”
