Wunderman Thompson wins Duracell creative account

WPP’s recently merged Wunderman Thompson has won the global creative business for Duracell following a competitive pitch run by Flock Associates.

The creative agency will take up the post immediately across the world, with the exception of the North American region, which Mumbrella understands is handled by Wieden + Kennedy New York.
Mumbrella understands the global account was previously run by WPP stablemate Grey London.

The pitch for the Duracell business was a four-month process with over 10 agencies competing, according to Wunderman Thompson.

Duracell’s chief marketing officer, Tatiana Vivienne Jouanneau, said the agency did an outstanding job throughout the process.

“Wunderman Thompson delivered strategic creative work grounded in technology executed with a big platform vision,” she said. “They provided a strong understanding of the global markets and the strategic clarity of how we can take our international brand into the future.

“Wunderman Thompson was outstanding in their pitch, they were joyful and we immediately felt the chemistry was right.”

Tamara Ingram, global chairman of Wunderman Thompson, said the partnership would help take the brand to the next level.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be working with this iconic brand in a moment of transformation for Duracell as they enter the power industry,” she said. “The Duracell team work is innovative, modern and works in an agile way focused on outcomes.”

New creative work from Wunderman Thompson is expected to roll out later this year.

Wunderman Thompson’s Australian arm has been approached for comment.
