Yellow Pages enlists Australian memory champion
The Yellow Pages has enlisted the skills of Australian memory champion, Tansel Ali, inviting members of the public to ask him to recall names and numbers from home improvement and DIY businesses listed in its Sydney directory.
The activity, led by Frank PR, sees Ali join the Yellow Pages stand at the HIA Sydney Home Show this week to showcase his memory skills.
In training for the 2010 World Memory Championships in China later this year, Ali has memorised over 2,306 pages, over 16,000 numbers and thousands of ads to recite any business name and phone number on request.
Karen de Villiers, Yellow Pages spokeswoman, said the point of the exercise is to highlight that while Ali’s “super-human efforts to remember all the business names and numbers is astounding”, for the rest of the population they can rely on the Yellow Pages for contact information of businesses.
