Y&R hires former Leo Burnett boss Pete Bosilkovski as CEO
WPP’s Y&R Australia has appointed Pete Bosilkovski as regional CEO across Australia and New Zealand following yesterday’s news of Phil McDonald’s departure.
Late last month Bosilkovski resigned as the CEO of advertising agency Leo Burnett after nine years.
“Y&R is an iconic creative brand, so when this opportunity came along, I jumped at it. I’m really looking forward to working with some of the great talents in the industry and leading the national and cross-Tasman agency,” Bosilkovski said in a statement.
Bosilkovski will be based in Sydney and oversee the agency which has clients including Menulog, Alfa Romeo, Kraft Heinz and Thrifty.
Mike Connaghan, CEO at WPP AUNZ, added: “To have someone of Peter’s calibre return to the group and lead Y&R here in Australia and NZ is fantastic. I’ve worked with Pete so I know his passion and drive, and I’ve admired what he’s achieved as a competitor. He’s back where he belongs.
“Pete’s a strong leader, a clear thinker and someone who makes things happen. Pete’s experience in transforming an advertising business for the modern era has equipped him well to lead Y&R into the future.”
In January this year, Y&R lost its executive creative director, David Joubert, who joined DDB as a creative partner.
This is the second leadership change for WPP agencies this month with Lee Simpson being appointed to lead WhiteGREY last week after previous joint-CEOs Paul Worboys and Miles Joyce.

Totally.
It’s nothing against them as an agency, more the old school agency model which WPP forces them to adhere to.

Why anyone would want to work in an organisation that conducts leadership changes the way WPP does, I do not know.

Well done, Pete.

Why does Connaghan have to do these things in such a way? Makes me have a major trust issue with WPP.
