Zara Curtis moves to TV role

Zara CurtisProduction house FremantleMedia has hired Zara Curtis as the first general manager of content division Spring. Curtis was formerly commercial director at NewsLifeMedia. Spring launched in September 2011 with a remit to produce sponsor-driven content for FTA, digital and subscription channels.

Curtis’ exit from News Limited’s magazine arm is the latest in a series of high profile departures from NewsLifeMedia in the three months since Nicole Sheffield took the reins at the lifestyle publishing arm of News Limited.

Programs created by Spring thus far include It’s A Knockout. Curtis said in a statement: “There is a huge demand for clever, quality and cost effective content that can run on multiple platforms in a media agnostic, audience-centric way. This is also a great time for brands and brand marketers as we see them take control of their digital content and reconnect with consumers through creative brand storytelling.”

At time of launch, FremantleMedia CEO Ian Hogg said “Spring would be to Fremantle what Jetstar is to Qantas.”

The appointment is effective in mid July.
